Annandale residence

Set within one of Sydney’s most historically rich inner-west suburbs, the project responds sensitively to Annandale’s historic fabric, characterised by late nineteenth-century terraces, fine-grain streetscapes and a strong village character. The intervention adopts a measured architectural approach, revealing and enhancing the enduring qualities of the existing Victorian dwelling while introducing contemporary improvements that support modern family life. The result demonstrates how thoughtful design can extend the life and relevance of a historic home.

This restrained renovation reimagines a traditional terrace house to better support the needs of a growing family. Rather than pursuing extensive alteration, the project focuses on the careful calibration of internal spaces and the upgrade of key amenities, enhancing functionality, comfort and connection while preserving the character and proportions of the original home. The design strengthens everyday living through improved spatial flow, natural light and adaptability, allowing the residence to evolve with its occupants over time.
