Positioned within the elevated landscape of Blakehurst, the development is a substantial transformation of an existing two-storey brick residence that embraces its unique topography and outlook over the Georges River and surrounding waterways. Blakehurst emerged as one of southern Sydney’s waterfront suburbs, characterised by residential homes nestled amongst established vegetation and shaped by the area's strong connection to the river. The project responds to this context by strengthening the home's relationship to its natural surroundings while retaining and building upon the existing structural framework.
The proposal involves significant alterations and additions, including the introduction of a new upper level and expansive roof terrace designed to capture generous lake views, natural light and landscaping. Significant internal reconfiguration improves circulation, privacy and spatial hierarchy, creating a more adaptable and contemporary family home. Through a considered balance of renewal and adaptation, the project reimagines the existing dwelling as a light-filled, family-focused residence that maximises the amenity and outlook afforded by the contextual setting.
